Why a whole day
A restaurant lunch gives you ninety minutes
And you spend forty of them waiting for the table and settling the bill.
A family get-together at a restaurant is one long table where only the four people either side of you are reachable. The children get restless by the second course. The uncle who drove in from Mysore has had one conversation. Somebody quietly pays and everyone stands up.
A day here is the opposite shape. People move. The children disappear into the pool for an hour and come back hungry. The older generation stays put in the shade and everybody rotates through them, which is how grandparents actually like to be visited. Lunch is a buffet, so nobody is waiting on an order and the table is not the whole event.
It also solves the thing nobody says out loud: nobody is hosting. No house to clean beforehand, no cooking for thirty, no washing up at nine at night. The family that would normally host gets to sit down for once.
Who does what
Four generations, four different days
The reason this works is that nobody has to do the same thing at the same time. Here is what each part of the family realistically ends up doing.

Grandparents
They came to sit with people, not to be entertained. Shaded seating on the lawn, a proper South Indian meal at a table rather than a plate balanced on a knee, and step-free routes to the restaurant, hall and lawns — the property is wheelchair accessible. They will spend the day watching the grandchildren in the water, which is the whole point.

Parents and the middle generation
The first full conversation they have had with their cousins in a year. Nobody is cooking, nobody is washing up, and nobody has to keep an eye on the children every second because the children are visibly on the lawn. Carrom and cards in the afternoon; the bar is there if the evening calls for it.

Teenagers
Table tennis, badminton, cricket and volleyball, and a pool that is big enough to be worth getting into. The rain dance session is the moment the phones go down. Give them the outdoor games area and they will organise themselves — they do not want a planned activity.

Small children
The shallow section of the pool, with adult supervision required at all times, and the kids splash area. Rain dance runs in scheduled sessions, so time the nap around it, not the other way round. Grass to fall over on rather than tile. Carry a change of clothes, a towel and something dry for the drive back.

Family food is where these days go wrong, so we plan the menu with you rather than handing you a fixed buffet and hoping.

- Food for small children and for anyone on a restricted diet, planned into the menu
- Serious allergies handled — tell us in writing, since a buffet means shared serving areas

- A birthday or anniversary cake is a normal exception — tell us and we will keep it cold
- Bar on the property, with drinks billed separately from the package
Share the split of preferences a few days ahead so the kitchen can plan properly. Per-head rates depend on the package, the menu and the day, and come to you in writing.
Where you sit
A space of your own, whatever the size of the family
Small gatherings take a corner of the property. A full reunion takes a lawn. Seated is a laid-out meal with tables; floating is a standing gathering.

The Patio Lawn is the usual choice for a family gathering, and the air-conditioned Banquet Hall is the answer for a hot afternoon or a monsoon date. If the out-of-town side of the family wants to stay the night, there are 59 rooms on the same campus.
